AT x Groov
at a glance

Groov supports Auckland Transport (AT) with its Hauora Employee Wellbeing Framework, particularly in the areas of stress, change, adversity, and psychosocial risk.

“We use the ‘me, we, us model’ in our Hauora Framework, and Groov places their whole concept around ‘me, we, us’ as well. Groov has slotted in as the ribbon that ties together our whole programme.”

About AT

AT manages all transport infrastructure in the Auckland region, from roads and footpaths to cycling, parking, harbour crossings, and public transport. AT’s purpose is connecting people and communities through easy journeys.

Why Groov?

Like the city it serves, AT is complex with many moving parts. AT’s people need day-to-day support to cope with stress, change, and adversity. Groov is a great fit for AT because it provides action-based wellbeing support at an organisational, leadership, and individual level, which mirrors AT’s ‘me, we, us’ approach.

Head of Culture & Transformation, Caryn Dawson says Groov has been particularly instrumental in supporting people throughout the harrowing events of the past few years.

“The last few years have been harrowing for anybody – pandemics, cyclones, floods – and a lot of our people have been really badly impacted by many of these events. So having a strong focus on wellbeing is critical for us,”

Caryn Dawson, Head of Culture & Transformation

How AT uses Groov

  • Groov App: The app is available to everyone, offering personalised and clinically-safe wellbeing solutions. AT’s Internal Communications Coordinator, Billy Smith, says his personal favourite app tool is the Worry Map. “I tend to have a few worries and it helps with my anxiety.”

  • Groov Hub: AT’s wellbeing squad has access to insights about what people are searching for and what’s potentially concerning them. This allows the wellbeing squad to direct energy into related wellbeing initiatives.

  • Groov Modules: AT has rolled out the LEAD, SHOW, CARE modules to the entire organisation, and also targeted modules just for people leaders.

  • Channel Groov: AT has aligned its internal wellbeing calendar with Groov’s yearly calendar and Channel Groov campaigns, allowing them to promote Groov’s shows and content to their people on a regular basis.

  • Psychosocial risk: AT has worked with Groov in coming up with a strategy for psychosocial harm and critical risk.

  • Consulting: Groov Clinical Team Lead, Dr Fiona Crichton has consulted on AT’s entire wellbeing strategy and also delivered custom events for AT’s people.

AT finds its Groov

Since partnering with Groov in August 2021, AT’s wellbeing strategy has gone from strength to strength. In 2022 alone, the organisation won several wellbeing awards, including Best Health and Wellbeing Programme at the HR Awards and Best Public Sector Workplace at the Headfit Awards.

Workplace wellbeing continues to be a top priority for AT and Groov remains essential to helping AT embed a wellbeing culture throughout all levels of the organisation.

“Wellbeing is one of AT’s strategic spotlights of the organisation, so it’s always been something that’s really critical to AT. By partnering with Groov, we’ve been able to elevate that.”

Caryn Dawson, Head of Culture & Transformation
