‘Care’ has always been one of our values at Giltrap Group and partnering with Groov has only but served to reinforce how we value our people and are committed to their overall wellbeing. The metrics we’re now able to track through the Groov platform allow us to not only see the results of initiatives we’ve put in place, but also where there remains areas of need & opportunities for improvement.

Their history

Giltrap Group is a motor vehicle importer, distributor & retailer. We are a family owned & operated business, founded in 1966. We have around 900 staff with approx. 95% being based in Auckland, and smaller operations in Wellington, Christchurch & Queenstown. Our Auckland based staff are spread across approx. 30 different sites. We represent some of the most well known automotive brands including Volkswagen, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Audi, Lamborghini & Aston Martin to name a few. We have a number of joint venture operations associated to the automotive industry, such as auto events & training and automotive insurance, and have supported a number of community organisations for many years. Motorsport is in our DNA and we continue to support a number of successful and up & coming drivers in various formats of the sport.

The challenge

Why were you exploring a workplace wellbeing solution like Groov?

We were offering a health & wellbeing programme to our staff for a few years before Groov came along. This worked well however given it was quite a ‘high touch’ model from a logistics & delivery perspective we were always somewhat limited in terms of the content we could offer to our people. Having something that could not only put wellbeing in the hands of our staff how and when they wanted it, but was also supported by tools and resources in their places of work was critical. Groov offered us the chance to move things forward in terms of integrating what wellbeing meant for our staff personally with how we could support this through our leaders & teams in the workplace.

The solution

What attracted you to running with Groov?

Groov, initially through the app, provided us with a tool we could make available to all our people (either existing staff or new hires) that they could use to help improve their personal wellbeing. Knowing that this could then be backed by in-house workshops & modules, along with the publicly available material such as webinars etc, gave us a nice way to link this to workplace wellbeing.

The Results

How has Groov helped at an organisational, leadership and individual level?

We’ve been running with Groov since it launched in March 2020 and have seen really good adoption with more than a third of our staff having downloaded the app & registered.  We’ve run a number of facilitated workshops & modules focussed on both personal & workplace wellbeing, and these are always well attended & enjoyed.  Through the regular 6 Pillars Surveys we undertake we know our people feel that the workplace cares about their wellbeing, and we’re starting to see their individual wellbeing improve over time.  Our leaders are well engaged in the role they have to play in supporting & enabling awareness of and conversations around wellbeing in the workplace.  We’re now starting to see a number of them place as much emphasis on this as they would on other more traditional measures of performance & success.

The Future

What excites you the most about this workplace wellbeing partnership with Groov?

We’re really looking forward to being able to offer our staff & support them in a seamless progression through not only their individual wellbeing journey, but also with how this aligns to our overall commitment to improve workplace wellbeing. Our people are very committed to what they do and spend many hours at work with their colleagues, so we’re really excited about the opportunity to build an environment that nourishes their spirit and allows them to be their best self while at work. Nurturing a workplace in which a culture of wellbeing is lived everyday drives our commitment to continuing to invest in this area.
